@Orcalover182 pretty sure he would die a happy whale even if he had just a few days in the sea.
-
@Timothy2035 Because Seaworld can't give two shits about the welfare of their animals
-
@sweetshawna1 Kill an animal that was doing what he was born to do serves Seaworld right maybe they'll grow a brain and stop taking whales from their habitat
-
i think the swimming pool (sorry i dont know what it means in english) are to undersized
poor tillikum =(
i can understand why he is so pushy

@takenbytaku Sea World's desperate rationalizations for their Captive Orcas flaccid dorsal fins is completely unsubstantiated by empirical observation and data, clearly the fact that Orca dorsal fins have no bones or muscles for support is irrelevant to their stability. To imply gravity to be the cause is at the very least misleading. Sea World's Brad Andrews commented, "It doesn't mean anything really. I like it. It's a little bit different"

@Orcalover182 Perhaps you should look a little more into the plan involved in setting him free, or perhaps Lolita, if it suits your fancy.
Regardless, captivity is wrong and should end immediately. The breeding programs should stop and the whales should be retired and allowed to live our the rest of their lives in peace.

poor Tillkum his dorsal fin is collapsed. It's so wrong :(

"Humans have a kinship with whales, and too long have
we abused these animals with our selfish curiousity. Too long have our ends - science,
revenue and entertainment - justified the means-.C.R. Roberts (1994)

when i was a kid and watched Free Willy i would of loved to go see the whales in captivity but now i'm older i look at this and can't help but think how very sad it is

One thing I do know based on watching videos of Tillikum is that he is usually just swimming around ALONE in his tank, with very little interaction with other orcas except during shows. Maybe they segregated him for aggression towards other orcas I have no idea, but I do think he's lacking a lot of SOCIAL contact with the other orcas at Seaworld that he needs. I'm sure that would make him a more content whale, but the reality is as you said, keeping wild animals in captivity leads to tragedy.
Kill Tilikum? What a stupid idea! How about set him free. He never should have been trapped and kept in isolation in the first place. I have NEVER been to Seaworld nor will I ever go. Those people are the real murderers.

both ideas, killing AND setting him free are stupid! why can't people just see what happened to Keiko and try NOT to make the same mistake?! come on! if idiots set him free he will DIE too! I really dont know what to do and I dont have any idea but what I know is that these are NOT good isdeas

go to hell, asshole! you don't even know anything about him! killing him would be just like taking ANOTHER life! Orcas are wild animals, it's like playing with wolves, bears or lions, they can surprise you anytime! you see bears killing people because they tried to domesticate them and no one kills them back, because that's just NOT the solution!

Surely, surely that isn't the only tank he swims in? I mean come on...that is really small for an animal like that. There should be a large communal pool like a football field for size where the whales can interact and swim around with more freedom. And why on Earth is Tilikum by himself? :(
Timothy2035 3 years ago 4
no, that's not the only pool they swim, they have more area, and tillikum is alone because the other orcas should be in the other pools and or making a show
