Since nobody else is bothering to say anything but nice things about TFIOS I'm going to.

P.S. Everything besides my praise for the book in the video is a joke, it should be obvious, but I know how the internet is so I had to cover my bases.

  • I agree, that really bothered me too, but I held Hazel accountable rather than John.

the other thing that really bothered me... well, I might make a video response for that.

  • @mayandarko Please do, I'd really like to hear what you have to say. I love discussing books and even though I really enjoyed this one, there are almost always some faults in books. (Pun intended.)

  • I noticed that too! I kept thinking "hey! I love that movie! Back off Hazel!" But once I read about 3 sentences past that and got immerced in all the amazingness that is John Green I forgot all about it. I finished the book crying- and then started the book again.

  • Can I tell you what he meant by that? (These are his thoughts and intentions not my speculations) He wasn't trying to say that girls don't like action movies. He was setting up the contrast between Hazel's and Augusts' idea of heroism. For Augustus, (at the beginning of the novel) a hero was a masked crusader who would die courageously to save someone else. Meanwhile, Hazel, though she was still discovering her idea of a hero and would come to find it by the end of the novel, had the idea of...

  • @KMBwiggles actually, i just looked it up in preparation for making a video response, and it wasn't there. I had mis-read or mis-remembered it or something. oh well. actually i'm glad! now i know the book is practically perfect!

  • @missemify Whew, I'm glad, it's so hard to convey what you mean sometimes via text. ^_^

  • @KMBwiggles Oh, I see! Alright, your intentions are understood :)

  • @missemify No, no, I totally got what you were saying. I'm just pointing out that this is a silly video and I wasn't trying to dissect passages of the book to show their meaning. I do love watching those types of videos, and really appreciated your comment, I just didn't want others to read it and think that I was actually trying to prove that Hazel is sexist. Obviously that wasn't my intent, but I've had misunderstandings like that in the past so I just wanted to clarify.

  • @KMBwiggles I think you just missed everything I was trying to explain.

  • @missemify This whole video is a joke regardless, but I was specifically poking fun at the usage of 'boy movie' as if only boys can enjoy V for Vendetta. Which just so happens to be one of my all time favorite movies. :-P

  • @releasethekacken I liked it, but I know the feeling of not liking a book that everyine else loves

  • Not going to lie. I almost disliked this instantaneously, and now I'll apologize haha.
