SmarTrend Opening Bell Comments -- February 18, 2011

Equity futures are pointing higher this morning with the Dow Jones Industrial Average looking to open 5 points higher while the broader S&P500 index is looking to open less than a point higher. Moving fast in the pre-market session are shares of SunPower up over 10% following its Q4 earnings report; Brocade Communications Systems up over 9% a day after reporting Q1 results; Yucheng Technologies up over 9% following Q4 results; and Aruba Networks up 9% on quarterly results. Shares of JDS Uniphase Corp are trading over 3% lower after Citigroup downgraded the stock to hold, citing 'massive outperformance.'

In corporate news, Calpine Corp. (NYSE:CPN) reported a Q4 loss of $0.05 per share. On average, analysts expected EPS of $0.08 per share. Revenues for the quarter fell 4.5% year-over-year to $1.47 billion, ahead of consensus estimates of $1.34 billion.

Progress Energy (NYSE:PGN) reported Q4 EPS of $0.45, ahead of consensus estimates of $0.44 per share. Revenues for quarter rose 1% to $2.32 billion, missing consensus estimates of $2.44 billion.
