If the nail is split then you can wrap the nail in cotton thread and coat in super glue which will keep the nail from splitting more. First bath in salt water and coat in EMT gel or polysporin, repeat this twice a day and the dog will be fine.

thank you so much i love my lil gril my pitbull and when she broke her thumb nail i freaked and almost blew 200 dollars to take her emergency room ! and would have done it too with no second thoughts but my roomate told me to clam down and do exCTLLY WHAT YOU JUST SAID!
