How about we stop our decades-long campaign of murdering innocent civilians in the middle east? If the oil money dries up, they'll just make more heroin. Of course, they were blaming American citizens for financing terrorists through buying drugs too. Electricity is not a substitute for oil. Electricity is already much cheaper than oil, if it was convenient to replace oil with electricity you'd be seeing electric vehicles everywhere.

The reality is that batteries need to get a lot cheaper and a lot more durable before electric vehicles will be a good idea.
