The man is a legend for a reason. His classes are the reason I stayed in college when I was ready to drop out and find something else to do with my life. You are a fool if you go to college at Iowa without taking at least one of his classes.

I'll definitely be buying this documentary. Watching this 6 minute clip brought me back. I was a double-major in English and Religion and took many many classes taught by Professor Holstein from 1996-2000. He was an inspiring, and at the same time intimidating, man (especially in my 1:1 with him). His teachings helped me to "see the surface by getting below the surface," as he would say. And this way of seeing applies to more than just books.

His energy is good, but for the love of God, stop with the boot camp routine. Loud voices will snap someone's attention, but it won't help them learn... at least not everyone.

My religious studies minor was 95% comprised of his classes. I learned more in those classes than any other class I took during all my years at college & have saved all my notes. He has NO replacement & I hope to be half as self-assured as he is when I'm in my 70's! I'm ordering some fine Irish whiskey when he retires...if ever. ;)

Holstein is a genius. Blunt, often belligerent, and inspiring, he is an Iowa gem. I'm enamoured by "Professor."

Ah this is sweet. I'm taking a Holstein 2 of his classes right now. He's the best teacher i've ever had. Where can we watch the full documentary?
