I speak casually about prostitution, pornography, the history of feminism and the new "Sex Positive/ Sex Negative" debate.

  • As I recall, the sexual revolution was a reaction to the newly available birth control pill, which, for the first time in history, made sex without pregnancy a very easy matter. Most sex positive rhetoric carries with it an antiwoman undertone that suggest women who say no are just prudes. Second Wave feminism was, in part a reaction against that. See, for instance, Gloria Steinem's article about her experience as a Playboy Bunny.

  • @pirbird14 When I was a very young boy my father took the family to the the Playboy Resort - a family friendly resort upstate.

    One of the rules was; "No boys over 12 were allowed to pull the Bunnies tails."

    Being under 12 my father & brothers encouraged me to take advantage of the tails. However - I did not for I was too shy. :D

  • Your historical revisionism of Second Wave feminism is disgusting but predictable. Our slogan was and is: No means no and yes means no!!

  • @ChairmanNuke I stand corrected. You are obviously wise in the ways

    of the undomesticated North American feminist known by the Latin name;

    "Braicus Burnicus."

  • Booring, sry.

  • @TheTruePooka I'm sure any woman comfortable enough to be a Playboy Bunnie would kindly disposed toward the advances of a shy boy under 12.

    I've never been to a strip show in my life - not to see male or female strippers. But I did get all smokey doped up with a gay boy and went to a porn version of "Red Riding Hood" just for the laughs. I found I didn't really laugh that much. Commercialization of sex turns me off. That doesn't mean I want to ban it for others. Just unionize it.

  • I don't see how it is dehumanizing for a women to get fucked. Yea some categories are but the same goes for men. But of course People only care what is happening to women.

  • @Tuckercrew What are the regulations though? The ones who are talking crap are the ones who assume that because X policy didn't work then they all won't so let's just end all prostitution all of the time, that's a pretty big logical leap. What would be bad about prostitution confined to brothels with condoms, security and medical bills only? Note that this doesn't have to "solve" and "problems" of street prostitution, just not be harmful to be legal, or else we're just fascists.

  • @Buntzums well said about Holland, it are a happy few hookers that benefit from legalisation, the rest, the majority pays a very heavy price. Im in Holland, and its been known for years it has failed. Regulations dont work. This regulation crap makes me sick. Its a sick industry built on crime and violence, legalisation only further established that, didnt eradicate it. People dont understand that its the nautre of pros that isnt working, no amount of regulation will change that.

  • @StabbyRaccoon no it isnt, I live in a country where prostitution has been legal for 11 years, fully legal, hasnt worked, only for a few happy hookers. You can make regulations all you like, but its not working in reality. I wish people would think before they talk crap.
