then why are you using for overheads

They were left set-up from another recording I was doing, I needed to close mic each cymbal, not ideal mic choice though for general overhead.

Are 58 condenser mics, as I was always told to use them for overheads. Sorry just learning all the mixing stuff

No, shure 58s are dynamic mics, for live gigs, designed for vocals.

hey Dean, that snare sounds really good in the mix. I can feel the attack coming through the speakers really powerfully. I like your new overhead situation. It definitely works for the rock sound.

Hi Bill,
A lot of the snare sound you're hearing is largely a heavily compressed bottom skin sound+some room in there aswell.Cheers mate.
