By the way, drivers for the touchscreen are good for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X, so if you follow some of the guides for installing OS X on your S10, you can use the touchscreen in that OS as well. I no longer have Mac OS X installed on mine, but when I did, it was every bit as responsive as it is in Windows XP.

Responsiveness really relies on the program you're using. Just using it with Windows XP in Explorer, it's as responsive as clicking on something with a mouse cursor. Garmin's Mobile PC is very quick with it, as well. So far, I haven't really run into a program that has problems with it. Drivers are good and solid. I didn't even need to calibrate it after installing as it was already pretty dead center, but I did anyway and it's extremely accurate.

Also, just be very careful during installation. Follow all Fidohub instructions to the letter. Be very careful placing the LCD panel and make sure your fingers and the screen are completely clean. The touch screen glass is thin and kind of fragile, so if you don't place it correctly the first time, be VERY careful removing it as it tends to crack in the middle if you get too anxious. Once in place, it's pretty sturdy though.

I followed all instructions from Fidohub, which included removing the LCD brackets and the foam behind the LCD. It doesn't bulge at all. My biggest fear with removing the brackets was that the LCD wouldn't stay in place, but it's actually really good. When you remove the foam, the really sticky stuff gets left behind and the LCD sticks to that. With the bezel in place, nothing moves and it looks factory installed.

The kit comes from a company called Fidohub. It's not listed on their web site, but they also sell kits through their ebay store. Search for fidohub.

It wasn't too hard to install, just time consuming. Set aside a few hours to do it right and make sure you route all the cables really well.

  • Have you given any thought it trying to 'flip' the LCD to make it a tablet? Trying to figure out how to manage it mechanically.

  • thanks for posting. what benefits do u get without using the garmin software?

  • They have a BIOS update to fix your annoying fan :)

  • Hey thanks for the qucik replys. How is the performance does it have quick responsiveness to a touch? Are the drivers and software stable? Sorry about all these question. Its just that there are no reviews online about the lenovo S10 with a touchscreen, I think your the first to post anything about it.

  • Thanks I just order one form ebay. Did you take out the foam underneath the lcd and the four screws that hold the lcd?

Does the touchscrenn panel bulge out at all? How does it look after installation?
