This is the original Dead Eyes Opened video which was filmed at a gallery called Art Unit in 1983 by myself and the Art Unit people. It was shot on a VHS portapack and edited on UMatic at Heuristic (everything we did was UMatic up to the early 90's) then passed through a Fairlight Paintbox. It was reshot off a TV to add a bit of video glow / feedback.
The silly looking voice over bit was done direct to camera through the Paintbox, so it's much clearer.
Pretty soon after this video was shot one of the actors died, and we had to develop a new version to avoid bad feelings. That's one reason why it's not on any compilation.
This copy was fortunately duplicated in 1993, some videos from the early 1980's are now starting to become unplayable.
It remains the property of severed.com

what is that huge digital synth sound at 2:07? from 1983, i'm guessing it might be a dx7. whatever it is it sounds fantastic! one of my all time faves.
