Amtrak Ride 2010: Texas Eagle Day 1 MKE-STL

October 25, 2010: Day 1 of my Amtrak 2010 Texas Eagle excursion, riding the Amtrak Hiawatha from Milwaukee, WI to Chicago, IL in the quiet car and continuing on the Amtrak Texas Eagle in a roomette from Chicago, IL to St. Louis, MO with station stops in Joliet, Bloomington/Normal, Lincoln, and Springfield, IL.

I may not be overly partial to it because it means I'm essentially home, but the station at STL is nice, isn't it? :)

Also, that guy that was "Sleepers, down here" in the video, what did you think of him? Considering what he did for me that I put in my trip report, I love him. :)

@icebratrpg Yes, the STL station is very nice. In the Day 4 video (hopefully will be released in the next few weeks), there is a whole section at St. Louis on a clear morning.

As far as the conductor at Springfield (the "Sleepers down here" guy), I never really met him. He just happened to be in the vestibule of my car and since he was working, I didn't want to bother him. Seems fun though.

@fredevad I didn't bother him either, but around the approach to STL (crossing the river or so), I was trying to take a picture because I was bored. I meant to turn my flash off so I had less odds of it failing for a night shot from inside a train, but it went off anyway. I soon made my way downstairs to waste time watching the ride from the vestibule and he opened the window so I could try getting a better shot. Still didn't really work, but I kept that one anyway - Misty :)
