Going Gambia next month. In terms of currency, which is best, travellers cheques or us dollars?

I wouldn't bother with travellers cheques. US dollars would be okay but you'd have to change them into Dalasi once you got there. Perhaps get some Dalasi before you go?

Lovely country, nice beer, weather fantastic, hotel great, food very nice, but the Bumsters were a nightmare, i could put up with the sand, red dust, power cuts, the long wait at the airport for our bags, the mossys, the hookers from other parts of West Africa in bars but the Bumsters were relentless, they all seemed to work in my hotel on nightshift so i didnt see them..one of them got a shock when i asked him for money before he asked me for money..it worked and he left..

@magnusrecords I laugh at your lame comment how you call us dirty and go on like you live in The Gambia...you live in the United States Of America...if you loved Africa that much to slate all of us you'd be in Africa now not in some getto slumb part of the States, I tried The Gambia..got nothing but hassle by young black men for money, tee shirts, Nikes...and when i didnt give...i was told The Gambia black man country not white, it's us whites thats keeping some blacks in jobs over there.

Fantastic video, im going next week to see my uncle whom has a place over there but im staying in a hotel as he has a would be auntie for me living with him (she's a local) i have a couple of questions..1st was the food ok outside the hotels (my uncle could eat anything and not be poorly) and 2ndly any discos/nightclubs? im really looking forward in going.....Dalasi almost sounds Roman to me...
