Canadian musician K'Naan talks about his experience growing up in Toronto, Canada as an immigrant, getting involved in Gang Life and loosing 8 friends to murder and suicide. K'Naan makes a point that growing up as a black immigrant in improvised areas such as Rexdale, Dixon, Jamestown, Jane and Finch opportunities are limited even in a rich nation such as Canada.

  • stop bringing up black, black means nothing

  • @whoookiddd Contrary to what you think; most Somalis are intelligent people, who're cultured and hard working. But in every race there's the small minority that let the rest of the people down.

  • @rmkt2 oh shit i never new canada was your country..........damn i must of messed that....im sorry dont kick me out

  • great interview from a great artist... respect...

  • It has nothing to do with being an immigrant, I am an immigrant, I didn't grow up very wealthy despite both of my parents having tertiary education. It was because their education and experience weren't recognised as highly here in Australia. They still managed to retrain. I have almost finished university now, the biggest problem that is present is that people don't appreciate what's given and have convinced themselves that their new country treats them as being lower in quality.

  • @rmkt2 its because poeple like you that i hate having the reputation of being born in america
