... It can save lives I do not deny it ... but also it can traumatize and kill the lives of the animals in investigation

@RingneckDoveFan I It's easy to sit on your soapbox and claim that disease is nature's way of thinning out the population, blah, blah, blah...but you come across as incredibly ignorant, albeit passionate in your beliefs. I hope that your children never fall victim to disease or illness, because it would really suck to be one of them as you calmly explain that the reason you're letting them suffer and ultimately die is because you want to spare the feelings of laboratory rats everywhere.

Since I don't have cable, the only reason I knew about this commercial is because it was played at a recent symposium. I'm an animal technician, a rat, mouse, and retired-research-animal owner (as many in this field are), and a lover of nature and animals. I am not opposed to those who do not support research, so long as these views only dictate their own life rather than people like Jen's. Thank you for showing that research does not equate to torture.

Great job getting the message out... attached is a video from a group of oncological dr.s who do benefit concerts with their band N.E.D to promote awareness

@RingneckDoveFan i understand your opinion but how would you feel if one of your family members got diagnosed with breast cancer, and ends up passing away, would you still think the same way? because i thought the same as you, but then i learned my lesson that id rather a rat die than a family member.

Animals are not here for us to torture so we can save humans lives. Diseases and cancers happen for a reason, they are not meant to be cured. It's nature's way of controlling the human population..but no, instead we are abusing animals for stupid reasons.Congrats lady on the screen, you are officially a hypocrite. "I love this rat, and at the same time, I enjoy torturing him." Instead of testing on a whole different species, why not test on people if there is nothing wrongwithTestingOnAnimals?

Hello Jen, I wish you the best in finding the cure, but I think the best thing would be to find the cause. Best Wishes.

this is great. tells a real story.

There is no time for joke's, there is only time for improvement, the more we test these animals, The more we know how this work's, The better we are for the future . If someone you know has went thew this and survived, Thank our animals and rodent's. They are the reason we are here.......
Okay, feedback is great. A constructive dialogue is great. But crazy ramblings and rantings and personal attacks, don't help anybody, so we're now officially going on moderated comments.

Oskypuss...Animal data is used to provide the FDA and the IRBs with the information that they need to test the compound on humans. If the compound is neither safe nor efficacious in the human trials, it does not go to the next step. Saying animal testing does not work makes no sense since the test must be done in humans before the product goes on the market. That's true for computer models, in vitro human cell cultures... Toxicogenomics and microdosing is part of the human testing process.
