  • I knew this version, i know all the versions of this piece, and all are very nice!

  • Really? So how many versions are there?

  • If no one starts dancing to (or plays) this, then they will be cursed by one of Jelly's Grandpa's Spells.

  • Then the first recording is on roll in 1922 for QRS Company;

    The second recording is in July 18 1923 for Gennet 5218 (11544);

    The third recording is still on roll early June 1924 for Vocalstyle 50487;

    Finally the fourth recording is in December 16 1926 with The Red Hot Peppers for Victor 20431 (37255-3).

    Your version is the piano roll 1924 early June!

    That's all!

  • @Morahman7vnNo2 He really did have a voodoo practicing aunt...

  • great piece of playing

  • This is the piano roll version, the most florid, loose and inventive.

  • Youtube does this song no justice

  • Grandpa's Smells, my fav.

  • I dont' have heard nothing about radio show recordings by Morton from 1934.

    I'm sorry, but if i'll hear anything i'll tell you...sure!

  • Hello fum8ma2. By the detailed information you have given about the different piano rolls and recordings of Morton's Grandpa's Spells tells me you have a lot of knowledge about his recordings. Do you know anything about a collector in France and one in England having airshots of a Morton radio show from 1934? I have been told 2 or possibly more collectors have radio show recordings by Morton from 1934. I would like to know exactly what these are. Have you heard of this?
