This movie is so primitive that people in the college theater in which I saw it began laughing at the most "dramatic" scenes.

I now think that there are some interesting shots, but basically the quality of the film is about as good as Birth of a Nation (1915), while just 3 years later, the USA produced a masterpiece like Citizen Kane.

I heard from a guy that was an extra ... they LOVED the cracking ice ... it was August - hot and humid. They were wearing wool and metal, and it was like going to heaven!
