Pan Am... killed Pan Am. Bad moves and an oversized fleet to try and conduct a 1960s model business in a post-luxury deregulated financial environment.
It doesn't get simpler than that.

I like it how the commercial is non PC; the baggage dudes are black, pilots are white, passengers are squeaky clean white, and once they get to the Eiffel Tower the people in front are French, not Senegalese hawking pot and Asian made pictures of accordian players. Ahh, the good old days...
