The worse of capitalistic marketing on display on CreatTV, a San Jose based public channel. Charlene Carlson with the Energy upgrade program is "caught" on tape revealing the real reason behind the $2M marketing campaign. At 1 minute into the clip Charlene says "this is to allow contractors to get a foot in the door and giving them a lot of optimism that they can sell homeowners on this idea" ... WOW I'm thinking the CAT is OUT of the BAG ... "foot in the door", "optimism" and "sell homeowners" ... is exactly what the banks did during the SUB-PRIME scandal ... and now the government is trying to SCREW the remainder of the public who were a little sensible? Its time for the TARP money to be used in a way there is NO MORE MISLEADING of the truth.
I recently upgraded my house in Los Altos and spent $470,000 upgrading it (new composition roof, new dual paned windows, new furnace, new duct work, special sheet rock, new insulation in the attic, subfloor insulation, fans in the attic (to keep the house cool in the summer) , yada, yada, yada. Our family situation forced us to sell the house - not something we planned when we started the upgrade. I ended up loosing $425,000 on the house - Investment wise the upgrades were a DEAD LOSS!!!!
