This time a jazz improvisation etude based on Miles Davis' "All Blues".

I'm happy to report I finally understand what modal means. (The best explanation I found what in "Metaphors for the musician". Get that book (Sher Music)

This particular piece was a lot quicker for me to learn than the last. It's a good introduction to 4th voicings, and some cluster voicings. 6 days, somewhere under 15 hours. Very satisfying.

The next piece should take a while. It's a slow blues in Bb, with tons of block chords "a la Red Garland". I love the sound of it, but it's gonna be a challenge. We'll see.

Subscribe so you don't miss it.

-- Keep playing.

  • Fantastic for the amount of time you've had on the keyboard! I want to know which of the 3 Snidero books you worked out of, and get it myself.

  • Thank you!

Check the link in my SongForMyFather video. Can't include links here, but it's the one for piano, not the easy version, just the regular one.

  • I agree rewsnat. flopdanut - you suck. You did a good job knotty, i've played this a few times and you did well. keep up the practice and put a few nice licks in and it'll be great.

  • thanks for the kind words Craig. I'll post something new within the next 2 weeks. Still needs a lot of work :)

  • Bravo!

  • very nice bro!!!

  • Can you sent me a music sheet

    i really want it please

  • The note choices are good. But you can work on locking in to the feel/timing. You aren't swinging the 8ths well enough, and in general need to lay back and just lock into the groove. Nice work though.

  • yea, I commented about the timing on your Slow Blues video. They're both good. I would say that your time is pushing, and on a song witht this sound you wanna go for a laid back feel. I see the push in the left hand on the ostinato it does at the begginng (one, + 3 + one, and 3 and, etc). Between 2+ and 3, make sure you leave the space between thoset two notes, pull them out, make it groove. As far as the voicings, I don't know much about them but I would say yours are coming along very well.

  • nice phrasing, kept in time with the beat behind you.

    All gd.

  • nice, keep up the good work

  • flop ur a fagshit, what, you think your the best? it sounds pretty damn good to me.
