The Foreign Policy Association held its Corporate Dinner on Thursday, April 29, 2010. The FPA will honor Mr. Arminio Fraga Neto, BOVESPA Chairman and former President, Central Bank of Brazil.

Arminio Fraga is a Brazilian economist who was president of the Central Bank of Brazil from 1999 to 2002. He is also a former associate of George Soros and his Quantum Fund. Since 2001 he has been a member of the influential Washington-based financial advisory body, the Group of Thirty.
He received his PhD in economics from Princeton University in 1985. In 2003, he founded the Rio de Janeiro based investment company.
Mr. Fraga has been called the Alan Greenspan of Latin America for his skillful handling of Brazilian monetary policy during his tenure as CBB president.
Mr. Fraga worked for both Fernando Henrique Cardoso government. In 2009, he became a member of the International Advisory Council of the Chinese sovereign wealth fund China Investment Corporation.
Ms. Sueli Bonaparte has been awarded the prestigious Foreign Policy Association Meritorious Honor Award for her outstanding seventeen years of service as the Executive Director of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. The award will be conferred upon her on Thursday, April 29th during the Foreign Policy Association's Corporate Dinner at the St. Regis in New York City. The FPA will also honor Mr. Arminio Fraga, BOVESPA Chairman and former President of the Central Bank of Brazil at this event.
The Foreign Policy Association is one of America's leading non-partisan organizations in the field of public education on world affairs. It is the principal public forum in New York City for foreign policy addresses, attracting broad national and international attention. Over the years many candidates for national office, including Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, have participated in FPA forums. Likewise, many world leaders have also participated, including most recently the prime ministers of Australia, Spain, Italy, South Africa, India, Japan, Sweden and Turkey.
Ms. Bonaparte has been Executive Director of The Brazilian-American of Commerce, Inc. in New York City for almost seventeen years. She was the Founding President of The Brazilian Institute of Arizona, Inc. in Phoenix and a Board Member of Esperança Foundation in Arizona. Prior to that, she held managerial positions at First Call Corporation and CMA, Inc. in Boston. Ms. Bonaparte also served as the Academic Affairs Advisor to the Consulate of Brazil in New York. She earned a B.A. degree in History from the University of São Paulo, an M.S. in Bicultural Education from St. John's University, and was also bestowed the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from St. Thomas Aquinas College. Ms. Bonaparte was presented with both an Academic Excellence Award and a Women in the Nineties Award from St. John's University. For her graduate work at Pace University she received a Scholarship Award for an Executive Management Program from The Federation of Commerce in São Paulo. She also received the Order of Merit of Ecumenical Fraternity Decoration bestowed by The Legion of Good Will.
During Ms. Bonaparte's tenure the Chamber has grown into one of the most active and respected bilateral chambers of commerce in the United States, and she has played a critical role in the forging of closer ties between the business communities of both nations. This prestigious award will recognize Ms. Bonaparte's immeasurable contributions to the success of the Chamber and to the establishment of a stronger relationship between Brazil and the United States.
