  • 1) slow down..it isnt a race

    2) bigger gas lense cup #12 for stainless

    3) lower heat!! 40amps and under

    4) .035 filler rod

    5) too much heat in those welds, cooked that stainless so its brittle! esp with no back gas

  • @MrThegurew Appreciate your advice but my heat input was spot on, i had it pulsed, 60-70 was max amps, back amps were in the range of 15-20 so the average was around 40, maybe a bit over. This video is old, it was one of my first exhausts i did so i didnt have lense cup or back gas :) Filler rod i used here is .047 thas 1.2mm are you suggesting even thinner filler rod? But ill try it your way and post the result

  • @jetmano Im not trying to rain on your parade, however if you msg me i can show you what we do here in the usa as far as weld quality, heat input, fitment, etc. not trying to bash..just trying to help you progress your welding skills :)

  • @MrThegurew i can see your effort so no need to apologize :)

  • Roughly what amperage were you using?

  • @nitrolx 60-70 amps but it was pulsed 50:50 but i dont know the back amps, 50 Hz frequency

  • @partyboy93 well it depends what do you wanna end up with, when im doing hi flow racing exhaust im trying to have the inside of the tube as smooth as possible so i fill it with argon, but for "ordinary" piping you dont have to ( no point smoothing inside when at the beggining rubbish cat converter ruins it anyway.. You have to look for your troubles elsewhere. Im not using purge on this video and as you can see welds are nice.

  • are you using backpurge ??? I was welding exhaust, but welds were bad and the backside was horrible.

  • @craveman85 well if you only want to weld exhausts than any DC Tig welder will do and it depends only on your budget. Mine is 150 Amp DC microprocessor controlled - Kuhtreiber KITin 150 LT. Im very happy with the welder performance but im now looking for something more powerfull, around 200 amps and AC/DC. As I said it depends on how much money you want spend
