A look at the interactive flowchart for when your car doesn't start. The approach is to work towards the solution through the process of elimination. The flowchart is posted in its entirety at:
@tonebro I have an 88 jetta..ignition key switch failed so theres a button start installed. The car was fuel injection but modified to a carb. The starter is brand new..battery is new...the starter relay is mounted on the fender..now all i hear is strong clicking from the relay...but doesnt turn over...when it did in the past it would get hot cause the starter is a half an inch from the manifold..I would half to wait an hour before it cooled down..I installed a heat shield..but nothing.
Perfect...I got plenty of opinions but no solid facts and a youtube video got the job done....My honda accord is cranking slowly with no start if I pause before turning the key to the ON position to start it, if I put the key in and start everything as soon as possible it will crank right up....looks like the problem is my starter
