Perhaps one of the most devastating experiences that a person has to go through is being cheated on. This is especially true when youve had a lot of emotional investment in the relationship. In this video, a professional relationship expert dishes out the eight stages that people have to go through when dealing with the after effects of cheating.

Here are the eight stages:
1. Guilt
2. Self-blame
3. Anger
4. Rage
5. Frustration
6. Feeling overwhelmed
7. Acceptance
8. Understanding

During the final stages, that is when you will begin to feel excited about the future. As quoted in the videoThis too shall pass which is something that every person facing this type of challenge should remember. The case is clearly made in the video that it is important to recognize which of these eight stages you are currently in. You have to realize that in order to truly resolve the issues of cheating you will encounter these stages.

By recognizing what stage you are in, you can track your progress when it comes to the process of recovery. One example given was a woman whose partner cheated on her. After a 3-week crying jag, she just wokeup one day to found out that she had become optimistic about the future. That freedom of releasing yourself from the pain is something that you too can accomplish if you recognize that these eight stages are emotions that you will experience while recovering from the betrayal.
