William Melvin Hicks(December 16, 1961- February 26, 1994)was an American stand-up comedian.

Finding moderate mainstream success in the late 1980s and early '90s, Hicks tended to balance heady discussion of religion, politics, philosophy and personal issues with more ribald material; he characterized his own performances as "Chomsky with dick jokes."

Many people believe some comedians plagiarised Hicks' material and attempted to pass it off as their own, most notably Denis Leary. And if you listen to other comedians such as Sam Kinison and George Carlin, you can find material similar to Hicks' as well. But I believe all these comedians were just influenced by Hicks' and meant no foul. It's all debatable.

Hicks played the final show of his career at Caroline's in New York City on January 6, 1994. He moved back to his parents' house in Little Rock, Arkansas shortly thereafter. He called his friends to say goodbye before he stopped speaking on February 14, and died of cancer in the presence of his parents at 11:20 p.m. on February 26, 1994. Hicks was buried on the family plot in Leakesville, Mississippi.

  • @OwnedRL

Leno WAS funny, Mr. Letterman . . . . just sarcastic.

  • @BigBoomRobot he appologied for that

  • wait wait wait, isnt David Lettermen the one that requested to take Bills skit off tv, now hes some sort of big fan of him. Fucking big lipped ugly motherfucker.

  • @IdleHands99 Well, those bands are okay, but not REALLY good. 4 non blondes had one album, with 3 good songs, doesnt really qualify. Marilyn manson are good, pantera and tool as well. but the rest are mediocre.

Im not saying all bands of the 90's sucked, but more than now, the 80's kind of sucked too. All im saying is that i think the scene is getting better now, because more indie bands are getting up, since its so easy to make your ownm usic now, like in the 70s.

  • @hershysquirts187 Im not saying the Music industry is good, cause its not. its filled with suckers of satans cock, but what i said is that there are better music now THAN in the 90s. face it, the 90s sucked candy-ass.

  • @Mika151 all these bands you speak of will never get backed by a big music company. no big wig will take a chance on new different bands. you can find great music in the underground and the internet. the music industry is going down for that reason. but as far as mainstream music companys backing bands as great as the doors or creedence. probely not gunna happen. not to say thoes bands are not out there. its just the big wigs wont take a chance.

  • @hershysquirts187 No, but take a look at the 90s, we had backstreet boys, britney spears, aqua, metallica (who sucked in the 90s) and so on, it was worse. The indiescene today is better than the popscene was in the 90s, with bands like The knife and Crystal castles. Dude im not saying the music scene is good now, but its getting better, and there are some great bands around. The best time for music was the 60s with bands like The Doors, Creedence, Dylan, Jefferson airplane, hendrix, stones.

  • @Mika151 if you think that you are blind. there is no substace in popular music. it makes me sick. but if your happy with your jonas brothers cd. more power to ya.

  • @MrMtube87 When he yelled? about new kids on the block being fascists of the music industry suckers of satan's cock? I think it really portrays the anger he felt towards the music industry, and it really was a valid reaction, it show that Bill Hicks really was serious about this point.

  • @hershysquirts187 I think the music industry has improved since the 90's so i don't know about that.
