WONG:
Hundreds of Tibetans from across the globe attended a meeting at the seat of the government-in-exile in northern India yesterday. On the agenda is a possible change in the way the Dalai Lama deals with the Chinese occupation of Tibet.
STORY:
Around a thousand people gathered at a school in Dharamsala yesterday for the inaugural ceremony of the meeting.
The Dalai Lama who called for the meeting will not personally be there. The 73-year-old Nobel Peace laureate, has recently hinted his "middle way" approach has failed.
And now there is growing speculation that Tibets spiritual leader will step back from the leadership role. But there is frustration at the lack of progress in talks with the Chinese Communist Party.
In early November the CCP again rejected a long-standing demand for autonomy at the eighth round of talks between the exiles and Chinese authorities.
