A rare glimpse at Skatercross through the eyes of a couple famous CHP officers.
Corny as hell (as were all CHiPs episodes) but a nice crystal clear recollection of one of the greatest skateparks that ever was !

  • Actually Stacy and Lou Peralta are not related.

  • Wow - great to run across this. If I only had my ID card from here. 1979, I was in third grade and went here whenever I could - was totally hooked. Was too scared to ever drop into the pools, think I tried once and ate it good.

  • This place did indeed rule!

  • AH the old stomping grounds; the ramp was great at allowing one to conquer ones fear... especially during the slalom competitions SKETCHY!!!

I also remember the 'marathons' they did a few times... skating all day and night, getting hosed down during the socal summer and sneaking out to winchell's about 2am...well winchell's and other extra cirriculars (cough, cough) me and a friend managed to endure and place in the top 20... free wheels and some cool goodies... nice to see this old park again.

  • I skate there in '76 or so a few times and then the ASPO contest in the pools they built in '80 or so. After they closed we used to stop by and sneak in and skate in '83. It was partially mangled, but the shallow pool and part of the snake run was still intact. It was paradise, with rarely anyone else around. Skating was wildly uncool in '83...

  • remember watching this episode circa 78 in the uk and wishing i could go to this place...guess im 30 years too late....DAMN...!!!

  • Skatercross late 70's. My old stomping ground. I used to skate there everyday with other locals like Bert Lamar. I used to be owned by Lou Peralta the father of Dogtown Z Boy Stacey Peralta. That starting ramp was wicked. Good times.
