Taping a stick heel-to-toe will actually slow down your shot. It may not be by much, but it's basic physics. The layering of the tape will cause more friction than if you tape a stick toe-to-heel because of the way in which the each strip of tape overlaps the other. I would suggest the more advantageous method of toe-to-heel.
