Growing up surrounded by farms in Michigan, David Daniels learned to appreciate the beauty of living things. In college he studied biology and botany, which should have led him to a career in research or health care, but for David it led to an artist's studio.

As a professional watercolor artist, David brings new life to the images he paints. The bright, colorful images of the things he loves, plants, animals and nature, hang in public and private collections around the world. Many of them were recently published in his book, "Watercolor Journeys."

David teaches classes on Montgomery College's Rockville Campus and at the prestigious Smithsonian Institution. He says he hopes to not only share his techniques with his students but to inspire them to be creative.

In this episode of Campus Conversations, David joins us for a discussion about the art of watercolor, and we travel to his studio for behind-the-scenes look at his paintings.
