This is a video on how to change the back-light inverter board on the apple clear plastic displays. They are all pretty much the same. The inverter board will have a few small copper wound transformers on it with 1 to 3 screws holding it on. When you see a blinking power light that blinks short, short, long and either the top half or the bottom half of your display is dim the problem is the inverter board. You can buy used ones on ebay or a new one. The whole repair took me less than 30 minutes.

  • wow 4 displays? day trading?

  • @Begbucks I tried day trading but lost all my money.

This was just a case of decadent spending and foolishness. My brother told me to wait until the price came down. They have lasted a long time but the cost per year is still so high. When these came out in 2002 and I saw how you can have one giant desktop I was amazed how well it worked. The more area you have the more the desktop feels like a real desk top. You can leave certain files here certain pic over there and run so many apps..

  • @BuyMyTools Hmm that sucks lol. Yes depreciation is a man's best friend, I'm a testament to that ;) So anyway if I understand this correctly; You have all 4 tied into one computer to augment yourself of screen size for multitasking? if so that's quite a concept.

  • @Begbucks Yes, four running off one MacPro with two video cards. It is like one large screen. You can move your mouse and windows around anywhere on the four-screen desktop like it all one screen. Works nice for video editors like final cut express. I watch TV on one screen, do youtube on another, ebay on another, iChat, e-mail, word, excel on another. Some people mount them on a wall one above another and it is easy to configure any way you want. It just works soon as you plug them in.

  • Hi, I too have picked up a 17' recently for very cheap,it already had the blinking light.

No problem for me but i think on the long run it can get annoying,... ;)

So if i follow your video correctly; i just have to open up the screen and then clean the inverter board right? Like dust you mean?, can i use pressured air to clean it?

    Regards,

    Davin
