While that's largely the case with state sponsored clinics I've seen private clinics give people the boot for pretty stupid shit. It kinda skews the benefits of having private insurance when a government run clinic will treat you more humanely, huh?

I'm glad methadone is an option, though. A lot of recent studies suggest that the less than 10% who relapse habitually may actually have something different about the wiring in their brain that effects how they process endorphins and dopamine.

I take no issue with people maintaining on opiates and am anti prohibition to the point that I would rather see addicts maintained on their drug of choice. I think we're past the point of being so puritanical that life must be "hard" or "a trial".

Another good friend of mine on this site lost her ex-fellow this past summer because of changes at his clinic, a clinic that he had attended for over a decade: They made group counseling mandatory and he was unable to attend because of his work commitments so they booted him. He was found within the week with the needle still in his arm and a note beside him. I should have gone into law and civilly prosecuted the prohibition murders that happen everyday, bro.

A lot of state sponsored clinics did and it was big news. That might be what you're thinking of. I know of a Canadian reservation where 83% of the population is on methadone or a similar replacement so cutting government funding hasn't made it any less popular.

thats why you do it in treatment with medical attention then move on. one time hurdle that you get through. spending the rest of your life sipping methadone at the clinic is no way to live and only keeps your body hooked on opiates.

I'm with this guy as I'm on methadone and these fuckheads where I live are trying to make it hard on the people on Methadone to be on it.I'm on it so I can work and have a home not chase dope all day but fuck, they close the Clinic after a 10 yr addiction 4 on the Clinic I'll either die on the street or use drugs.I sure wont be building stages in the day as a stage hand and then playing on them most nights!Trying to wreck our lives!
