Just playing around with a large piece of clay.

Music is mainstream jazz, Joey Miller, "Night in Tunisia".

  • Hey. I just have one pet peeve when I saw your video. I can understand sacrificing some of the clay to center, but when you leveled the top so soon, it raised an eyebrow. I'm not that experienced, but I learned pretty quickly all things considered. A few things I noticed about wheel throwing is that, the more clay you take away earlier, the thicker it is, and therefore you're giving up a lot of height. that small bit of wiggle won't be too much of a problem so earlier due to the thickness. HF.

  • are you talking about around 1:29? I am not sure why I did that at that time. I think that I like to start off pretty level. It just bugs me if the top isn't flat! LOL.... I understand your point, however!

  • hello ive posted a vid resonse of me throwing a couple of bowls incase you find it useful for the centering there only 5 kg but the centering is the same any size pretty much if you think itd b useful i can record some bigger stuff, dont bother about wobbles aslong as they cant be seen when the piece is still it dosent matter, keep potting

  • hey thanks!

  • wow very impressive! that's a huge bowl!!!

  • thanks.... it is so off center.... but, hence, my name! LOL

  • nice off center bowl

  • yea, but clay isn't ever really wasted. It can always be reclaimed. It just works better for me to have extra support clay until I get better at throwing. Thanks for watching!

  • looks like alot of wasted clay by centering and scraping with the rib

  • no doubt!
