This is amusing. His brother is a priest...when someone confesses to you, priests are sworn to secrecy...even if it is the murderer. They actually can't go to the authories :P.

Though not a proper confession, but all the same...

And yes...I know this for a fact. I actually asked a priest this back in high school and was flabbergasted at the response.
