  • I know this noise. Its very, very bad and indicative of a design defect in these engines. All of the cam followers and the studs, more than likely the camshaft itself have to be replaced. The '60 MB instroduced a much cheaper to build engine than the 1950's series which had a very labor intensive piece of machinery under the hood, and which actually had a beautiful valve train that simply would not wear out. This new (and chronically defective) valve train carried over into the 1970's.

  • @fairvoice nothing wrong with the valve train on that engine, their not silent like a new VVTI Toyota. the cam mic exaggerates the noise, part of witch is the fuel and oil pump paddles tapping away like normal.

  • The sound inside the car is perfect !!

  • apart from the diff whine she sounds great!

  • Great car v8Jagnut has! Love them old things. Good to see it has been well looked after too :)

  • It still needs a bit of resto work but its in remarkable condition compares to the others I've seen over the years!

  • I don't know much about these cars yet, but the engine sounds troubled.

  • Great car!!! Good job! Keep maintaining it of this car!

  • zabardast car kya baat hai janab.

  • Aussie50, thanks for that. Mine was a 1963 and it went west many years ago but it was a real joy to see and hear it again.

  • I've repaired these engines numerous times, yes, they're not silent like newer engines, but they shouldn't be this noisy either, mike or not. The severe wear only becomes evident when the cam follower is removed from the ball pivot. Since the cam is always "pulling" on the follower, the wear is concentrated on one small portion of the pivot ball, forcing the oil away. As I said this was a very poor design, too bad really as these are very nice cars.

  • @fairvoice lol. its fine. just adjusted to fac spec for autobarn so i dont burn valvs when at full speed all day. also the mic on theas camra's make it sound lot louder than it is.
