Ol Newton McGraw had the meanest wife you ever saw.
She made that poor old Newton toe the line
Til he knew he had to find some good excuse
To get away now and then or lose his mind.

Well he finally hit upon his big idea
Went out and bought a pack of good coon hounds
Whenever that ol woman started getting on his nerves
Hed go out huntin coon all night long.

One night somewhere way out in the back woods
He found the cabin of that lonely widow Jones.
Newty tried to fight her off the best he could.
Her sweet perfume just made spaghetti of his bones.

Now when Newty got back home in the morning
His ol woman was as mad as she could be.
She said aint that perfume I smell all over you.
He said no dear its that new potion I put on the dogs to kill their fleas.

Now all of Newtys coon hounds wear perfume
Same kind that you find on widow Jones
All Newtys coon hounds wear perfume.
Those fleas laugh so hard they just fall off on the ground.

Now ol Newty goes a huntin more and more
Them dogs of his, theyre lookin mighty poor
Theyre ashamed to tree a coon wearin
All that cheap perfume.
But Newty dont care what they dont catch anymore.

Today Newtys wife passed widow Jones
At the corner store.
One whiff of that perfume bout made her sneeze.

Didnt take her long to put two and two together
She figured out that widow Jones must have fleas

Thats why all Newtys coon hounds wear Chanel number

Very funny, Chuck, and most enjoyable. Reminds me of an old couple I knew who used to put a pair of pink frilly incontinence knickers on their dog when she was in season, so that they could take her for a walk without her being "hounded". I've never seen a dog manage to look so embarrassed! Mind you, it worked!

How are you keeping, Chuck? I've had visitors for most of the last week, so haven't been online for a while. Catching up with everyone right now!

paddy. i was fine until four in the morning. woke up coughing up blood. this happens a few times a year since i had heart surgery and am taking blood thinners.  first time, it scared the heck out of me. now i just wait it out. it usually comes from singing too much in one setting, trying to reach high notes. been trying to learn a new original song and looks like the next week will be sans singing. jim dime is one of my favorite writers. we belong to a couple songwriters clubs together.
