4:05 beginning of "aufschwung"

I feel the mist rising from the forest floor.
I miss the acclerando and contrasting of hands so much a part of Schumann,BUT it's still successful in evoking the mood.

@erzelini Who would want to skip "des abends"? D:

@dgaranin By moment I hate youtube. It always blocks good video for commercial reason. They block some rubinstein's video, because of the request of society , and these same society uploads Justin Bieber song. They delete quality, and favorise mediocrity. Sad world.

aufschwung is epic and romantic in same time

Hell yes, this is amazing!

My contact in Germany told me that this video is blocked there. And in the US it is commercialized by ads.

so beautifully performed. out of this world.

@erzelini yea, i was like WTF at first, then i read description, cause my friend played this for her piano recital

I also remember hearing that Richter never played all 32 of the Beethoven Sonatas. For some reason he never performed the Waldstein, op. 53. I have to say I admire his independence of mind. Most people would have performed the waldstein just so they could say they had played them all.

I don't consider the Fantasy Pieces a cycle in the same way as I do the Carnaval or the Carnival Jests from Vienna. The Fantasy pieces are more like the Nachtstucke, in that they work all right as a set, but they don't lose by being played individually.

Happy 200th b-day!
Amazing performance, out of this world!
But there are two pieces missing, Grillen and Fabel. Anyone knows why I can't find Richter's performance from those?
I just heard Cziffra and he recorded them too, but Richter didn't.

Richter has actually preferred to play separated pieces from Fantasiestucke. AFAIK he didn't performed the whole cycle. Who knows why... The same with Chopin's preludes and etudes. With Preludes, - I know for sure he didn't feel he could do it the way he wanted. Isn't it strange? ;)

Was it once more common to play separately the pieces from such works as Fantasiestücke? It seems, at some time, it became traditional always to play 'integral'. I don't feel as much 'scheme' with Fantasiestücke as Chopin Preludes. Maybe I'm wrong?
I remember Ashkenazy interview when he made the Shostakovich Preludes and Fugues, they asked whether we should think of it as cycle, and he said "there is no reason why you shouldn't, even though I'm not so sure he really meant it"

You are correct!
Fantasiestucke as a cycle is less interdependent than Chopin's Preludes.
