XBMC - Rom Collection Browser - browsing features

XBMC addon to browse and launch emulator roms and standalone games.

This video shows the general browsing features like filtering, video playback and use of image placing options. It is made with version 0.8.9 of the addon and XBMC Eden (pre-release nightly build from 2011-06-02).

Two notes on using the video playback features:
1. Fullscreen video browser does not work with XBMC Dharma. You need the new XBMC version Eden to enable fullscreen video playback.
2. Videos are not scraped automatically with the online scrapers. You have to get the video files by yourself and import them manually into RCB. (E.g. emumovies.com is a good source for gameplay videos)

I made the shortcuts in a folder, but what should I do about platform? I tried Windows and PC Booter, but I don't know what to do when it asks for an emulator.

Windows as platform is correct. Emulator depends on RCB version: In 0.8.x versions you will need a batch file that launches your .lnk files. Since 0.9.1 RCB can launch the lnk files directly (the wizard won't even ask you for an emulator anymore).

@maltercb I'm on 0.9.1 RCB now, but it still isn't importing any of my games. I named them all with the titles from the giantbomb site, and they all have art and descriptions. Yet, nothing gets imported. Example. Touhou 06 - The Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil

@Sunfizz98 Is Giantbomb the only scraper you are using? It may be a problem because I disabled artwork download from giantbomb and RCB won't import games wihout artwork by default. Try it again with mobygames, you can also use more than one scraper at a time. If you still have problems you can also come to the RCB thread at xbmc.org forums. It is easier to discuss the problem there.

@maltercb i got you im like 4 months late i found out how to do this but thanks anyways, by the way do you know a fast skin for xbmc4xbox, i use jx720 as i modded it with fanart, but i liked ellipsis but dont run movies on navix at 720, so i stayed with jx720.

You should create shortcuts to your games. Create one folder with all shortcut files and add this folder as rom folder in RCB. Use *.lnk as file mask.

How the heck do I import a standalone game that uses an .exe to launch the game?
