@MsSmokingCaterpillar and i also imagine that the whole "our eyes will be on coraline" part is also pointing out how other mother wants to sew buttons in her eyes, not just to spy on her. :p

This song is so full of foreshadowing. "She's a peach," (Other Mother wants to eat her) "she's a doll" (Other Mother wants to sew buttons on her eyes) "she's a pal of mine" (Other Father wants to help Coraline), "She's as cute as the buttons in the eyes of everyone who ever laid their eyes on Coraline" (the Other world is full of button-eyed copies of people she knows) "Our eyes will be on Coraline" (The Beldam watches Coraline's every move)
