Those radial engines sound so good. It's a case where flat recip engines and turbines may be easier to operate, but that radial sound is so visceral that it makes it all worthwhile.

@Coderoid I correct myself. I saw a picture of a Beech 18 with sky divers on the left wing, and a man dangling by a prop blade from the FEATHERED left engine.

Me thinks that losing a single engine in that bird would be fatal regardless of skill, given all the drag and extra weight. Does anyone think otherwise?

Would be nice to have floats on a twin Beech - but all that drag and weight!

FYI... The beech 18 floatplane will burn 46gph and will cruise at 127 kts. There is nothing fuel efficient about the beech 18
