This is my demo reel for August, 2006. It shows some of the CG I've been working on.

  • @taz014l You're the one who asked about books! :-) Anyway, observe anything lit by anything. Take notes on what looks good, what doesn't. You can learn technical stuff about lights & equipment online or (GASP!) from books.

    Good luck.

  • @GEOFFMARK WHAT?? AN ORANGE?? oh gee, i guess i should look into those... but then again i hate reading.

  • @taz014l And my 2010 reel shows even more. Very little of this was real on set at all. Most of this is computer generated. I do real on set lighting, but my credits here are for re-creating that lighting (or making it better) in the computer. There are books on set & stage lighting, most of them teach you how to practice at home. I learned with some desk lamps, pieces of paper and an orange.

  • @GEOFFMARK yeah your newer (2008) reel shows what you actually did for each shots by that little thing in the top right corner. btw do you mean lighting as in REAL ON SET LIVE lighting? how in the world can one practice that?

  • @satellitedirecTV More effects? This is ALL effects - real ones. Not just $3 plugins. Please - try to re-create the space stuff, or the CG horses in those plugins. Good luck!

  • @taz014l I worked on everything in this video. I did lighting on almost everything, but also modeling, animation, effects. This is my job - Visual Effects.

  • this just seems like a bunch of clips from different shows. doesn't actually have a clear representation on what you worked on

  • do you know a usefull tutorial for "building collapse" ? (for 3ds max) ^^

    that would be grat
