We HOPE his LEG does not have to be AMPUTATED-CHESTER'S Story

CHESTER was brought to the attention of our volunteers who saved his life as he was very sick. His story is heart rendering and it shows the efforts that we will go through to rescue and save a cat. When Chester arrived he was flea infested, dirty, in sever pain and his LEG WAS IN A BANDAGE MADE of POPSICLE STICKS and MASKING TAPE. This is naturally not proper medical care. His injury was left untreated for weeks and developed into a MASSIVE bone infection that nearly took his life. WE rushed Chester to the Vet and once he was give pain medication...he began to purr! It almost breaks my heart to think of this scared cat who had a huge smelly open and infected wound, bone infection, and fleas infestation, to think of him actually Purring. It shows his character,strength,faith and his fight to LIVE. Chester has been very courageous as he has endured countless Vet visits and proceedures to cure him. We are hopefull that his back leg will not have to be AMPUTATED, but the infection is literally in his BONE. It is a very serious situation. Our volunteers have fallen in-love with Chester and are doing all they can to save his leg. Thankfully we have found an antibiotic that seems to be working to help him. Then next 30 days are critical and his response will determine if his leg needs to be amputated. Please wish him luck and we want to send a special thank you to the volunteers who witnessed this case and who are caring for him in FOSTER CARE. It takes a very special volunteer to make this committment.
UPDATE:________________Chester has been doing very well. He will always walk with a limp but he did survive! The volunteer who had been fostering him in her home while he was sick still has him. For the first few weeks/months Chester had to be alone in a spare bedroom so he could be kept kind of quiet and still. He was lonely so the volunteer placed a kitten with him to keep whim company and lift Chesters spirits. Now Chester has been allowed full range of the house and he has made friends with all of the other family cats. I have a feeling Chester is going to be what we lovingly/jokingly call a "Foster Failure" It is when you foster a cat and then never give it up and keep it yourself! I will ask our volunteer if she can post any more info and eventually I will try to post a follow-up video!***********************

Anyway, it's tragic what happened to poor Chester, but fantastic that he's gotten better! He seems such a sweetie. It's horrible to think what he's had to go through and that there are so many people who just don't care about animals. Then again, it's fantastic that there's probably more who -do- and who are willing to put in the time to make sure lovely animals like Chester get love and care :)

@juleeluvsjovi And some cats are like that, I think. They're cats. They aren't ... well...you know... I do think though, that there's a little bit of a difference between letting your cat roam free if you live in an English countryside village (like I) and doing the same if you live in a city. I guess both are equally dangerous, but I must say, I wouldn't be happy having an outdoors cat in a large city for one. But 'never' is a strong word and is a bit... broad.

@juleeluvsjovi I -completely- disagree. Well, not completely. It is dangerous, but some cats just can't cope with being stuck indoors. We let our cat outside. We kind of paid the price when he was hit by a car and severely injured, but thank god he survived. The point is, we would have kept him in after that, but even before he was properly better he was almost climbing the walls begging to be let out. There was and is no way that he would be happy as a house cat, it's simply not in his nature.

whatever you do dont get fleas in your house, you will never get rid of them. we bombed, sprayed, and vaccuumed everywhere in our house and we still have them. we might have to move....

"you should never let them outside". Do you mean injured cats or any cat at all? In my experience cats that are allowed to walk outside freely seem more happier and behave more naturally. Cats who stays inside gets stressless, Cats are "free" animals after all and outdoors is their natural environment, unless you have a special breed of course. In my opinion, if your living situation doesn't allow your cat to walk outside, you should not get one in the first place.
