One of the more complicated aspects of the American character, I think, is the fact that our identity is a combination of our collective consciousness as a people, and the fact that (at our best) we also tend to value our individual ethnic or national origins. Even today, we remain a country of immigrants.

@WorldAccordingtoRich That was certainly evident while I was there- the coach driver of the horsecart depicted in some shots from this video considered herself "Irish".
