What's great is that Bentsen wasn't just able to make such a hilarious line against Quayle, he was able to maturely justify it in the face of Quayle's snivelling "don't be mean!!" reply.

Two things. First, that was kind of the point: Reagan said it about a Democrat (and it was a joke at that) and Bentsen turned it around against a Republican, and it wasn't a joke (unless you really think Reagan knew Jefferson.) Second, I don't think someone who can't spell "Bentsen" even though it's correct in most of the responses, and also don't know when to use "your" versus "you're," has the right to call anyone else an idiot.
