Durango and Silverton Railroad Scenic Railway (Steam Engines!) HD

My trip along the D&SNG that goes from Durango, Colorado to Silverton, Colorado. Amazing trip that goes through the gorge and canyons of the San Juan National Forrest and along the Animas River. For my first time on a narrow gauge steam engine it was a wonderful trip!

I didn't go all the way to Silverton, only about 30 miles and I departed the Needleton stop for a few days of backpacking and 14ers in the Chicago Basin (Weminuche Wilderness). If you ever get the chance to do this, I highly recommend it as it offers some of the most beautiful scenery in CO.

Amazing Video! Was there using Video camera back in 1991 - 1992. Amazing how little seems to have changed. The quality of the picture is certainly cleaner.

A couple of new cars on the railroad. trees are a little taller. Train seems to be moving faster...higher track speeds. Great stuff. Thanks for posting!

That looked like a full day. Watchin' this vid, I was ready to jump right along with you on the cliffs. None the less - really cool stuff. Just hearing those steam whistles blow is neat!
