That's really cool, but I think using sundried tomatoes would be good too and maybe premixing them(chopped) with dried herbs and onions.

throw away your aluminum cookware.

Good vid! Solid and simple. Thanks for figuring it out for us.

@choni1975 ERR, did you miss the title or point of this vid. It is for backpacking. If you really prefer to just buy and use the cans, Good luck carrying all the extra weight over the mountains. We'll wait for you on the other side! LOL @ diamondincnd too.

I didn't know you could drug spoons. Lol. but seriously, good video. "food" for thought.
-
Wouldnt it be easier to just use it in a can?

dehydrate the sauce, then freeze, then run through a blender to pulverize it. Another trip through a dehydrator isn't a bad idea at this point, and then you have an easily packed powered sauce...
-
i thought this was very interesting; and thought you presented it well... So, why dont you have any other ones? You should!
-
Why would you do this???? I would think the sauce still in the can would last longer and would taste better the dehydrated stuff.

Please people, do not ever use canned tomatoes. The acids in the tomatoes breaks down the chemicals in the lineing and you eat that. Only eat tomatoes from glass jars or make it yourself.
after you dehydrate it you could even vacuum seal it to further increase shelf life..

Good suggestion. Since this video, I have gotten a food saver. I wasn't sure how much I would use it, but it gets used most ever day for chips or for separating meat, Once a month cooking. I need to get back to making some more dehydrated meals too.

You might want to do something about the sound volume.

Looked just as good rehydrated as it did new! How long can you store it dehydrated?

I ususally go 6 months on the shelf or practically unlimited time in the freezer. I like to store my stuff in the freezer until I'm ready to take it out. Seems to preserve the flavor better.
You should also try to keep out light. Helps preserver nutrients.
