When I first saw this I thought it was hysterical. Now I'm an adult and I'm not so sure.

But our momentary lapse of concentration allowed "Charlie" to get the drop on us. I spent the next three years in a POW camp, forced to subsist on a thin stew made of fish, vegetables, prawns, coconut milk, and four kinds of rice. I came close to madness trying to find it here in the States, but they just can't get the spices right!

Someone please put all of Skinner's Vietnam memories together in one clip. They are awesome... and sad.

What's wit the sound? Did you record this on a camcorder? If so, I'm amazed by the video quality, but confused as to how the sound got the way it was.

@VGKing Yes. Every video on my channel is recorded using a camera. The quality is near perfect becuase I sit the camera on a chair, up close to the televiosn and play a film/ tv clip with the sound turned up high. When I play the footage back however, the picture quality is slightly darker and there is an static-y sound in the background.

Skinner is suffering from PTSD, I remember this as a child and found it fascinating and cool that skinner was a war vet but now I feel pity for him

ehhhh it's still a good scene, part of the brilliance of the simpsons (classic simpsons) is how we can respect something like this as adults, even if certain parts are darker then we remember

there is an awesome skinner bit that everyone seems to have forgotten.. the opening scene of lisa the beauty queen where skinner beats up three guys after telling them he's an ex green beret.... anyone know if that clips up on youtube?

@MinisterAilingTongue Cutaways are the signature of FG's humor. The Simpsons episodes don't usually rely on plot. The Simpsons is funny because of little jokes that are included throughout the episodes that aren't relevant to the plot but are hilarious. I like both shows, but both frequently stray from plot-based humor, which isn't necessarily bad.
