The First World War formed the backdrop and context for the launching of what is considered the first full-scale modern genocide, the 1915 Armenian massacres in Ottoman Turkey, one of the Central Powers. Between 500,000 and 1,500,000 men, women, and children of the Armenian minority in the empire were killed or died from abuse in the government's resettlement campaign and massacres. The Christian Armenians were considered a suspect population and a liability on the home front. At a time of worldwide suffering, international reactions to these murders were muted. This important example shows how the war itself seemingly normalized mass violence, including the targeting of civilians, and formed a precedent for the later genocides of the 20th century.

  • Excellent lecture. I commend you for your courage to stand against the constant Turkish threats and propaganda in effort to deny the Armenian Genocide. God bless you!

  • Satean is waiting in the inner circle of HELL to "treat" his offsprings the Turks! Turks just piss off ! No one wants you!!!!!!!

  • Tell the truth and shame the devil! Let the whole world know what happened to the Armenians! Truth will not be suppressed or twisted or compromised. There is only one truth. The Armenian Genocide is a tragic historical fact and should be recognised!

  • Thr truth must be told . Turks must face their ugly past and accept what they did to the Armenians. This is the only way forward. Only then the healing process of some sort will begin. This lecture and similar lectures are important to make humans aware of what can happen and the tragic consequences of that......almost 100 years and the criminals and other so called democratic countries who know exactly what happened to Armenians are silent and are in morbid denials . Shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks

  • Thank you for posting this. Turkey must recognise the Armenian Genocide!
