The most famous intro of our time. John touched ALL of us with the emotion and feeling that went into this song. Theres no doubt that while recording, he was his own worst critic, just like the rest of us. However, we never really know how others will percieve what we play until we expose them to it. The recognition John got from the masterful execution of this piece gained him worldwide recognition from the most important people in this industry...you and I....His peers. All of us will carry the moving charachter of this song with us, the rest of our days...One of the true great gentlemen, and musicians of our time..John Hughey...

  • Hey man, I was just watching your video and thought you might enjoy my fathers rendention of it. Just search look at us by mark wade and it should be the first result. Enjoy

  • Hi, my husband plays the steel and has for many many years. He has two questions. Do you by any chance have a tab for this song Look At Us and the second question is what is the name of the steel that you are using in this video? He really likes the looks of it.

  • I didn't know until back in the mid to late 90's when seeing an interview with Vince Gill that John was the longtime steel player for Conway Twitty. Gosh I love this intro and loved John's playing.

  • thaznks for turning me onto the wonders of John Hughey

  • Hey Mickey thanks for disecting these licks... Mr. Hughey ALWAYS has been my inspiration, his tone was and is second to none... could you perhaps post some technique and tone lessons in Hugheys style please?

  • Thanks Mickey for your time invested here helping the steel players! That's a really cool thing. Ricky

  • Im a non pedal steel guitar player but im learning so much from your videos.

  • Thanx for this great instruction-video!!! I can play the intro now, finally, so now I can impress my dad, who bought me the pedalsteelguitar!!!! LOL
