The fireworks at Chinese New Year's eve as seen from my balcony, looking west into the direction of TaiYuanGong.

This starts a few days before New Year until reaching its full intensity between 11PM and 1:30 AM on New Year's eve. After which it will still go on for another 2 weeks.

According to tradition, every Chinese person must light fireworks and firecrackers outside his own house. This, as the tradition says, will drive the evil spirits away for the year to come.
