@embrezar yeah, makinf a tas is HELL of work. i'm not as good as saturn or kriole, but a tas for 60 minutes watch will take me 6 hours and 2'000'000 klicks (!!!) that's not funny

@jynxdaddy if you take a look at metroids asm codes, you'll find a code, that destroys every shot, after the shote left the screen+ab. 2 blocks. the powerbomb is one of the most glichy things in supermetroid, you'll not get it done without a powerbomb. the destroy shot code can't run correctly, because the bomb slows the game down, it's just about 1/2 speed. that means, the emulator needs 2 frames, to calculate 1 frame - you'll get a bit more time, for the projectile. it'll fly longer distances.

Oh, I see. The OP's name is RupeeClock, and I was referring to a known group of spammers on that other site... the comments on the page with the video are all jacked up and out of order so I didn't see it until I hit "show all comments."

Wow, that is a good question... wtf? That was meant for a NewGrounds post. How the heck DID that end up here?

at 1:28 my rockets can't destroy the block from this side, what is the trick?

It's weird, for some reason, you need to be the right distance away from the wall. Back up so you're underneath the platform above you, then jump to the right. Try to get the screen to scroll as far to the right as you can before firing the missile.
I don't know why it works like that ^_^ You can also use a Crystal Flash to force-crouch in the tunnel then just shoot the block but that's a bit slower obviously.

I tried to post, it didn't work... Ok, so at the risk of sounding like a total moron, what is TAS? I mean, from what I gather, it basically requires an emulator, usually involves slow-motion, but what does it do? Is it like one huge macro that someone has to program? "Hold this button, aim here, fire twice, switch to missile, fire, switch to super bomb, morphball, plant super bomb, etc." Also, what is rerecord? A movie I saw said "rerecord count: 26865."

You've got the basic idea, a TAS is speedrunning with the help of savestates, slowdown and frame advance to remove the limitations of human reflex time and speed. But they are not macros really, the TAS itself is a record of what buttons were pressed (and not pressed) on every frame, and in most cases it's a human pressing those buttons, not a program.
The re-record count is simply how many times a savestate was loaded.

Holy crap, so that movie has 26865 savestate loads? Making a TAS must take forever... I mean, going frame-by-frame through a whole game? Talk about time consuming.

Indeed, it takes a great deal of patience to make a good TAS. Just FYI this particular TAS has 125,635 re-records.
