  • i go to chs now. those moves are illegal

  • Rules change. They were legal, and they could be legal again. Legality is merely the agreements of men, nothing more.

  • @jnhead I cheered in the 80's and there is alot that are illegal now, for good reasons, lots and lots of people getting hurt, I was a flyer, and yes I have gotten hurt, and saw many of my teamates get hurt, and it wasn't poor coaching, when learning a new stunt, it can happens and it did. Basket Tosses are illegal now, on basketball courts unless you have a matt. I coach and am glad for all the new rules and regulations.

  • @ADofTexas I know, i am 44 years old and still tumble a little anyway, and only on a spring floor, maybe a BHSpring on the grass or tile floor, but nothin too major. I threw a standing tuck at my 25th HS reunion, and i hope to be able to do that until my 50th one...I hope !!!

  • @cheercoach1984

Some may have sustained injuries, but it is not the blame of the activity. I am almost 60 years old and I am in good health. I competed in as an Elite in acrobatic gymnastics when i was 32 and later stepped in as a base for a M4 when I was 48. I have remained an active athlete even up to today, albeit I have modified and reduced my athleticism as I have aged. Jack Lalane kept his good health up to 91. It is all about how you train, not what you train.

  • @ADofTexas I hope that these women can walk today... I remember the cheerleading from these videos, which I loved, and still do, but it does make me wonder about their knees, ankles, shoulders, etc.... This was the Great cheerleading that Ilove all over again!!!!

  • CHS was one of the top cheer programs in the country 80 - 83.. I have not seen that program do anything since.

All the stunts were legal at the time. Lots of injuries have changed things.. no more 3-2-1's, but can you tell me that basket tosses are safer?? All I can tell you is watching those cheerleaders embarrass any squad that strutted into the Cat's Den with their gymnastics during time outs was incredible. I will always proud of this era of CHS cheerleading.

  • wow!! im going to chs next year...too bad it is no longer like that!!

  • The moves are illegal because of incompetence in cheer coaching and organizational leadership. Gymnastics and circus have been doing these moves for centuries without "thousands of deaths." The shining hope I see for cheerleading is the USASF who have been working on a developmental program to train cheerleaders in acrobatic stunts progressively.

  • too bad half this is ILLEGAL for thousands of DEATHS!

  • psh, whatever! this was so boring, no facials or anything...

  • go team. rah rah and so forth.
